INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON TOURISM TECHNOLOGY AND SYSTEMS
12 - 14 NOVEMBER 2026 - MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA
CreaTech Tourism´26 – Creative Industries and Digital Technologies for Tourism
Cultural and creative industries are increasingly shaping how destinations are imagined, experienced and remembered. Music, audiovisual production, design, fashion, video games and heritage are converging with digital technologies to create new forms of tourism experience, from phygital and virtual environments to emotion-driven storytelling. This convergence, however, depends on the ability of creators, technology developers, companies, universities and public institutions to work together.
This workshop aims to discuss how digital technologies can strengthen creative industries as drivers of innovative tourism products, and how collaboration among ecosystem actors can turn existing creative capacities into sustainable and scalable experiences. It combines paper presentations, a multi-perspective panel and a short co-creation lab to identify shared challenges and opportunities for future collaboration.
Chairs: Liliana González Palacio, Alejandro Guzmán

Panel Discussion. Comprising four to five participants and a moderator: the Creative Industries Cluster of the Chamber of Commerce, Colaboratorio, a representative from the creative or tourism sector, the public administration, and the Creative Industries Laboratory. To foster an interactive dialogue rather than a sequence of formal presentations, each panelist will address three concise questions: identifying an existing capacity within the ecosystem, pinpointing a primary challenge, and determining a critical connection that must be activated. The overarching question, aligned with the congress's focus on tourism, could be framed as follows: What structural conditions are necessary for Medellín’s creative ecosystem to transform its underlying capacities into sustainable, collaborative, and scalable tourism experiences?
Mini-Laboratory. Structured around a three-phase Design Thinking methodology:
1. Comprehension: Each working group synthesizes the actors, resources, needs, and systemic tensions identified during the panel and preceding presentations.
2. Formulation: The group selects a specific tension and reframes it into a "How might we...?" inquiry. For instance: How might we align university capacities with the practical needs of creative enterprises designing tourism experiences?
3. Connection: The group determines the necessary collaborative partnerships and outlines a preliminary, actionable first step.
